Ok, well I haven't seen them all. For instance I missed Trolls and Finding Dory. But I did see SING this week and I'm so glad I did. I thought it was a great story with wonderfully entertaining characters and truly amazing musical performances. The overall theme to never give up on your dream was something I could easily identify with, and it's something I think all children need to hear. One of my favorite quotes from the movie was "Don't let fear stop you from doing the thing you love." Buster Moon, the main character's optimism was contagious.
There were other important messages as well. Like, avoiding people who hold you back and not letting the circumstances of life keep you from being the best you can be. And don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
Apart from the seemingly customary farting humor so prevalent in children's movies these days, this movie was full of all kinds of good things that will spark meaningful conversations with your child afterwards. One of the characters even had a parent behind bars. I thought that was interesting.
ILLUMINATION did a phenomenal job with the 3D animation and special effects. The character creations were all beautiful and will no doubt be found in toy stores if they're not already there. However, the glowing squids and architectural renderings of the buildings were my favorite part. All in all this was a fantastic show and well worth seeing. I'm definitely going to add this to my collection when it becomes available.
